World tenor José Carreras will perform on February 16 in Košice! 

A star tenor, who is known as "the most kind person of the opera world" will return to Košice after 12 years, where he will perform accompanied by the National Theatre Opera and opera soloist Michaela Várady. Concert ambassador is famous singer and actor Filip Tůma! He will perform together with José Carreras.

One of the world's most famous tenors, a native of Barcelona and a musical genius, he has in his repertoire about 600 titles of various styles from baroque to contemporary music and more than 60 operas. In Slovakia, he will perform together with soprano Michaela Varády and accompanied by an excellent 64-member State Theatre Opera Orchestra Košice under the baton of maestro David Giménez Carreras – a renowned Spanish conductor and  the nephew of the famous tenor. 

José Carreras, whose full Catalan name is Josep Maria Carreras i Coll, is known for his magnificent interpretations of the works of Verdi and Puccini, but also as a member of the group "Three Tenors" together with Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.

In 1998, he founded the Josep Carreras International Foundation to fight leukemia, as he himself had been diagnosed with this insidious disease the year earlier.

His last performance in Slovakia was in 2016 as part of his Farewell Tour, which adds the exclusivity to this Košice concert in June.
